Bedminster Kitchen Needs Floor Removal During Water Mitigation
This Bedminster kitchen had a water damage incident that affected much of the kitchen space. As the Before Photo shows, the floorboards show signs of swelling and saturation of water. This type of laminate flooring usually has a core that is not waterproof, and once prolonged contact with moisture occurs, the boards are often destroyed. SERVPRO technicians needed to remove the floorboards in the kitchen and the cabinets to extract the water and dry the work area. The laminate flooring was floated over a previously installed tile floor that showed no signs of seepage into the subfloor underneath. These older types of tile often have asbestos components and should not be disturbed unless absolutely necessary. The After Photo shows the extensive controlled demo needed to get rid of the building materials compromised by the water, leaving only the stove in the room.
